Fly Eagles Fly

Cricket has always been in my DNA - like most Indians. As a kid I remember waking up early in the morning, finishing all my chores including the bath so that I am not disturbed during a one day match - when they actually played it in the day. But with time, I started spending less time following cricket - even though the duration of the game was shortened with the advent of 20-20. Then I became a father - and had absolutely no time for any sports on tv.

A few months back, we were watching the evening news and suddenly my daughter - who was 18 months old then - got super excited. She loves animals and somehow she identified the eagle in the Philadelphia Eagles logo. From then on, it has become a tradition where I shout "eeeagles" whenever we see the logo and she gives out one of her excited shrieks. She even does that when she sees someone wearing the Eagles t-shirt - almost landed us in an embarrassing situation at a mall once. I even took an Eagles magnet with me when we went to India so that my daughter can still have a look at the logo.

I started following NFL because of my daughter's interest in the Eagles. I had no idea how the game is played and for the most part I still don't. But I have improved a lot and I am spending some time following the team's progress. Believe it or not - they are doing extremely well this year. I have no idea how good the other teams are but I am hoping that the Eagles make it all the way to the Super Bowl next February. Fly Eagles Fly.
