Like any other working day, it was a long day. I packed my bag and started moving towards my car. As I came out of the building and started walking on the pathway, I heard a loud shriek. I looked to the left - no one was there. I looked to the right - no one was there. I looked in front - no one was there. I looked behind - no one was there. I looked above - no one....sorry, God was there but He usually doesn't give a loud shriek. His ways are more sublime. I looked down - and saw the culprit. It was a cute little squirrel sitting there trembling and looking absolutely terrified.
The last time I tried to rescue a squirrel was when I was in school and I ended up with a lot of scratches on my hand. To avoid any such embarrassment, I decided to use my shoes made from thick leather and which can withstand even an Eagle's attack (as claimed by Woodlands). I stamped my shoes heavily on the ground - once and then twice. But the squirrel did not seem to care. This was more embarassing than the scratching. I looked around just to check whether anyone was watching and moved on.
As I sat in my car, I saw a white male with wings standing in front of me. This was definitely not my first encounter with angels but this was a surprising one. A loud voice asked me "What have you done?". I replied back, "Nothing". The white seemed a take a hue of red as the angel said "Exactly. You did not do anything. You have to face the consequences". What have I done? Oh no, what have I done. I got down from my car and ran towards the squirrel. But there was nothing there. I looked at the road expecting to see a trail of red blood. Nothing. I came back dazed and this time there was no angel for me to give an explanation to.
The book titled "Squirrel for Dummies" ,which I read recently, clearly says that human beings have to help a squirrel in distress. The book titled "Dummies for Squirrel", which the squirrel read recently, clearly says that squirrels have the right to escalate to a Higher authority if a human being does not help. I guess this is what the squirrel did.
The next day, like any other sane person in this world, I opened FaceBook the first thing in the morning. I was glad to see a status update from a friend who said that he had rescued the squirrel. What a relief. I felt guilty about what I had done. I still feel so. But now I also know that no harm was done. Thank you El Aurobindo ;-)

The squirrel baby was last seen on a tree branch, circa the first week of April. (",)
