Raindrops falling on my head

What a weekend it was. Cloud cover throughout the day. Rain in the evening. Perfect weather to curl into bed with a blanket and sleep peacefully. I think rain brings out the romantic side of people. The sight of diffused sunlight coming through the dark clouds and lighting up the wet terrain lightens even the dullest of moods. You just feel like taking a walk in the rain with your partner - sharing the same umbrella - each one trying to give more space under the umbrella for the other, and both getting wet anyway ("Life is beautiful").

Of course, there are other not-so-romantic sights also. The sight of a buffalo standing in the rain as if nothing is happening and wondering - "Where are all the people". Dogs and humans trying to escape the onslaught from heaven by standing under sunshades of shops. Roads becoming rivers. Potholes becoming pools. Lorries getting rid of the dust and dirt gathered from their long journeys (just like my shoe). Clothes left out to dry going into the rinse mode again. Leaves getting back their true green colour. It is such a wonderful sight.

On Saturday, after I finished my afternoon siesta, I had some work to do. So I got dressed and decided to go out. But it was raining - or rather drizzling. I am not a great fan of the umbrella. I hate to carry it, not because I lose it (I would love to lose it) but because I hate to be under the "protection" of an umbrella as if the rain is going to kill me. I like to walk in the rain. Feel the raindrops crash on my material body. The cold wind brushing against my wet body. What better way to enjoy the rain? But unfortunately, that evening it started to rain so heavily that I had to indulge in the disgraceful act of standing under a shelter. And I had to do the even more disgraceful act of carrying an umbrella, because I had to go to a shop to buy a greeting card for my sister and I didn't want to enter the shop fully drenched (I had no problems, but the shopkeeper may not like it). But before doing these disgraceful acts, I decided to do some soul cleansing while coming back home. And I did it. When I was walking back home, it was raining lightly and I carried the umbrella under my arm as if I am protecting it from the rain and not the other way round. You can never explain the feeling in words. The feeling of being free - not bound by rules (that you have to carry an umbrella and not get wet). Having fun like a kid and enjoying rain - the way it should be done.

I had a small pain in the throat the next day - indications of a throat infection coming my way. But then, I have no regrets. If ever there is a club whose main objective is to get rid of umbrellas, I will become a member immediately. BAN THE UMBRELLA - LET IT RAIN.
